Internal shot of Dave's Vegan Popup Cafe

This summer you can explore bonny Knoydart on the West Coast and not compromise on vegan treats with a fab vegan Saturday pop-up.

We’ve still not made it out west to visit Dave’s cafe, so we’re excited to welcome a guest review courtesy of Jenny and Holly who hiked to Knoydart last week.

Dave’s Pop Up Vegan Cafe does exactly that – pops up every Saturday over the summer in the space that is the Knoydart Pottery and Tea Rooms during the week, but the situation and food go beyond doing what it says on the tin name. The simple and short breakfast and lunch menu is slightly different each week with freshly cooked and lovingly prepared meals, and Dave manages to be a welcoming and helpful host while running the kitchen.

You will struggle to beat the view from Inverie in Knoydart and there’s not many cafes, especially not vegan cafes, where the adventure by boat or foot are part of the experience and Dave’s considerate enterprise fits in well with the eco-friendly, community ethos of the remote peninsula. Dave aims to please and is still excited to tell you about the food and cakes he makes and sells. As well as being entirely vegan, gluten free is happily catered for.

We visited for breakfast are enjoyed overnight oats, full vegetarian breakfasts and homemade baked beans on toast (gluten-free bread was happily available), but are looking for a reason to return for lunch and cakes, where the Buddha bowls topped with falafel or onion bhajis and homemade mango cheesecake, millionaire’s shortcake or croissants were just some of the goodies tempting another visit.
