This cracking wee cafe is an absolute must if you’re in the area with delicious vegan options, lovely views and friendly, helpful staff.

I went for the cooked breakfast and it was excellent, including a very tasty clootie dumpling. I could have added vegan sausage but it was filling enough for me. As well as the menu options, the soup and one of the daily specials are usually vegan. The special when I visited was vegan croque-not-ha-doque (Quorn fish in a vegan cheese sauce with fresh chives). There was also tempting home baking including vegan coffee walnut cake and lemon drizzle cake, sadly snaffled before I had a chance to sample! I returned to enjoy a lovely cinnamon banana cake.

Cafe Tioram is in the small village, Acharacle, in bonny Ardnamurchan on the west coast. It is actually a couple of miles from its namesake, Castle Tioram, but the castle is worth a visit. Drive along the river Shiel to Dorlin to explore the ruins located on a tidal island by a beautiful beach. The stunning Silver Trail walk also starts from the beach if you fancy stretching your legs.
