Located in a characterful, wood-panelled basement, you’ll find many of your favourite Indian and Thai dishes here, but the standout reason to visit George’s is for their dosa. These crêpe-like savoury filled Indian pancakes come with a variety of fillings (I recommend the masala dosa) and are served with sambar and coconut chutney. Scrumptious! They’re made from a fermented batter of rice and lentils which are also gluten free.
Allergens are listed on the online menu but vegan options are not marked so I’d recommend checking with staff.
Please note the online menu varies from the restaurant menu, notably it doesn’t include dosa. You can still order these by calling but they don’t transport well and are best appreciated eaten in.
Bonus points for: Catch George himself and you’ll get friendly chat, recipes and perhaps even off-menu order suggestions (which is how we discovered the aubergine pakora).
