This cute, cosy Crown cafe by JuicyNess offers delicious vegan options including a daily soul bowl special as well as nutritious fresh smoothies, juices and protein shakes.
We tried the vegan breakfast plate of sourdough piled with smashed avocado, tofu scramble and mushrooms with chipotle beans. Other options include soup, waffles with fruity toppings as well as a soul bowl, which when I visited was cauliflower steak with katsu curry sauce and Asian slaw. Next time I might try subbing the filled brioche rolls (not vegan but can be switched for sourdough) and choosing my own fillings for a sandwich or toastie. There is a pretty extensive list of vegan-friendly filling choices including hummus, veggie haggis, smashed baby potatoes, avocado, grilled pepper, and sweet options like fruit slices, Biscoff spread and peanut butter.
Sùgh Ùr is the new incarnation of JuicyNess, formerly based at Fairways. JuicyNess was entirely plant-based, and whilst that is not the case at Sùgh Ùr, they are very aware of offering vegan options, all clearly marked and the team are helpful if you should have any queries or requests.
Don’t want to wait? You can text to pre-order for collection or head to Just Eat for delivery.
And in case you are curious, “Sùgh Ùr” is pronounced soo-oor and is Gaelic for fresh or new juice.
